A Venerable Tradition
We are seeking to engage with collectors of works of art who can envisage what it will mean to them personally to have a fine art museum in eastern Maine, a globally favored travel destination.
In doing so, we are following the model of the National Gallery of Art which built its starting collection by reaching out to the major collectors at the time to ask them if they might consider making legacy donations of works of art on behalf of the nation. The US Government provided the building, but did not initially purchase works of art to populate its galleries. Major collectors rose to the occasion.
Imagine ... Imagine how you feel about the works of art you have collected and how you will feel knowing that you can share them with future generations by way of a legacy donation. This is especially meaningful to collectors who have a love of the eastern coast of Maine and who have deep ties with family members and friends. It is good to be remembered and to have a lasting imprint on one's community in this way.
