Format - Discussion Forums
Discussion Forums tend to take a retrospective perspective of national and international affairs. They are focused around a presentation by a specially invited expert guest. They are intended to inspire a free-flowing sharing of and discussion of observations. They tend to touch upon aspects of diplomacy and generally run for up to 2 hours.
Joining a Discussion Forum ... Participants need to email us at least three hours before the start of their Forum (joerg@eaglehill.us) to receive a directly-clickable link to join. Earlier signups are helpful. Forums are open 30 minutes prior to their scheduled start time for those who welcome socializing or who may need help with connection issues.
Guidelines ... For practical reasons, the format of each Forum needs to be adapted to the topic and number of participants who sign up ahead of time. The following are general guidelines.
- A host presides over each Forum.
- A single guest presenter first gives a 15–30 minute introduction.
- A disciplined and free-flowing discussion evolves under the guidance of the host, who decides how best to give as many participants as possible a chance to comment and/or ask questions.
- Brief in-the-moment-appropriate interjections of tangentially-related subject are welcome, at the discretion of the presenter.
