A fiscally conservative organization

The Eagle Hill Institute was founded in 1982 as a nonprofit and charitable corporation of the State of Maine and is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable tax-exempt corporation (Federal ID 01-0379899).

For decades, the institute's natural science division has been 98% publicly supported each year, without exception, by way of income from its in-person and online natural history science seminars, its 9 peer-reviewed scientific journals, and its annual natural history science confeence.

The concert series has been reliably self-supporting year-after-year on average on a break even basis by way of ticket sales, sales of after-concert dinners for musicians and concert guests, and the gracious support of our musicians. This shows proof-of-concept, i.e., that the power of the music program is a direct expression of the natural interests of our musicians and our audience.
