Expanding our geographic focus

Recent discussions the most active members of the Eastern Paleonotologist (EPAL) Board had with colleagues with broader geographic interests than eastern North America come to the conclusion that EPAL is well positioned and well advised to consider a name change. These discussions further concluded that boldly choosing the name, Pan-American Paleontology, makes the most sense, since this title elegantly signals an awareness that there are deep collegial relationships among paleontologists throughout all of the Americas, as well as the Caribbean, who would welcome a journal that facilitates collaboration among them, while making special efforts to welcome young researchers with thesis and dissertation research that merits publication. There was a consensus that there is a timely need for such a journal.

We are seeking paleontologists for the Board who are active researchers and who are strategically well positioned to take advantage of what the Pan-American Paleontology offers and who are amenable to being proactive on behalf of the journal, including accepting assignments to be manuscript editors and mentoring young researchers.
