Donations and the Astronomy Initiative at Eagle Hill

The telescope ... is a conduit to the cosmos …

An open invitation …

During the last half century, humanity has accomplished amazing feats in the realm of space exploration. Astronauts have visited the moon, our robotic representatives are currently combing the Martian surface for signs of life, and unmanned probes have left the cradle of Earth’s solar system fated to ultimately be humankind’s ambassadors to the Universe. While all of these bold missions were the product of decades of work by major space agencies, the early inspiration of their specialists and their drive to help explore beyond the confines of Earth is always the result of an individual gazing up at the night sky and wondering what is out there. It is in this spirit of exploration, wonder, and discovery that the Eagle Hill Institute is reaching out to individuals and organizations interested in financially supporting its bold astronomy initiative by way of the construction an Astronomy Resource Center.

Taking advantage of some of the darkest night skies on the eastern seaboard, the Astronomy Resource Center will foster the interest of the general public and novice astronomers, while also providing the essential infrastructure and resources required by serious amateur and professional astronomers to continue their studies of the night sky. Regardless of whether an individual’s interest in the stars is a piqued curiousity, a serious hobby, or a lifelong passion, the Astronomy Resource Center will provide the means to explore the deepest reaches of space without the need to leave the serene beauty of coastal Downeast Maine.

To see this vision through to fruition is a substantial undertaking involving everything from acquiring equipment, software, books and other reference materials, developing curricula for teaching programs, to funding the design and construction of the tower and planetarium of the Astronomy Resource Center.

Major donations will be needed to make the Center a reality. If you have the means to make a substantial financial donation to the Center, there are opportunities we would be pleased to discuss with you.

The Eagle Hill Financial Advisory Team is ready to answer questions which you and your financial advisor and/or your accountant may have. Members of the Team include alumni, faculty members, and friends of the Institute, in addition to the Institute's professional financial advisor and broker, who can help with donations of appreciated securities and property, which are tax deductible at fair market value.
