Things to see and do in the Eagle Hill area
If you are looking to make your visit to Eagle Hill part of a more extended vacation or if you are accompanied by family members who would like to go on day trips, there is so much to explore in Downeast Maine.
Parks and reserves
- Acadia National Park ... The largest section is on Mount Desert Island. It has extensive trails, a dramatic rocky coast, and is home of the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. The Schoodic Point section on the Gouldsboro Peninsula is much less visited, but is preferred by many.
- Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge ... Extensive trails and a dramatic rocky coast, with an option to hike up Pigeon Hill.
- McClellan Park ... Milbridge. Hiking trails and campground on a dramatic rocky coast
- Donnell Pond Public Reserve Land ... Schoodic Mountain, Black Mountain, Caribou Mountain, Catherine Mountain. Extensive hiking trails.
- Spring River Lake ... And 10 other nearby Lakes. Sandy beaches, campsites, and marked trails.
- Birds Acre ... Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary. Ellsworth. A shelter for injured birds. 200 acres of protected wilderness with about 6 miles of trails within the city limits o Ellsworth.
