The Institute provides an aesthetically pleasing retreat-style setting on the eastern Maine coast. Its buildings are located on the forested 235' summit of Eagle Hill, the highest point on Dyer Neck peninsula. They are only a short walk away from the seashore, a blueberry field, and a number of panoramic overlooks of the coast of Maine. Care has been taken in the construction and siting of all structures on the approximately 150-acre campus to minimize impact on the landscape. Thus, buildings are clustered and nestled in the woods, providing privacy and maintaining the natural aesthetics of the forested setting.
There are two general classrooms with an assortment of lab equipment, including A dissecting and compound microscope for each student.
Residential facilities offer participants and guests at Eagle Hill a range of housing options. All bathrooms at the station have hot and cold running water, a shower, and are for use by only one person at a time. Tenters are welcome at the station and have use of bathroom facilities in a nearby washhouse.
The original Commons building serves as a dining hall where in-residence seminar guests have their family-style meals. The Commons Building hosts buffet-style dinners for day-visitors after events, such as concerts and lectures, as well as banquet-style dinners for meetings and private social events.
Taken all together, the facilities and the aesthetics of the setting compliment the program offerings of the institute and keep many of the guests coming back again and again, year after year.
