Announcing the 2023 Northeast Natural History Conference

... back in Burlington!!

The last time we brought the conference to Vermont, it proved hugely popular, and since then we have had many requests to bring it back to Burlington. So we are excited to once again be meeting in the Green Mountain State.

The Doubletree by Hilton proved to be an excellent venue, well-suited to the size and program of our event. We are also glad to once again have the conference located within a hotel, providing our attendees with the convenience of being able to enjoy excellent accomodations within the same building as the conference.

You won't want to miss the Northeast's largest regional forum for researchers, natural resource managers, students, and naturalists to present current information on the varied aspects of applied field biology (freshwater, marine, and terrestrial) and natural history for the Northeastern United States and adjacent Canada. It will serve as a premier venue to identify research and management needs, foster friendships and collegial relationships, and encourage a greater region-wide interest in natural history by bringing people with diverse backgrounds together. Every year, we receive affirmative feedback about how friendly, collegial, and enjoyable the conference is and how it is especially welcoming of and valuable to students.

Note: while we understand there continues to be concerns regarding COVID-19, at this point we are not requiring masking or testing. However, we will monitor the CDC website for updated COVID-19 guidance and recommendations and will be conferring with the Doubletree by Hilton in Burlington to be sure that they and we are following the latest recommendations and mandates. We will not be offering a remote attendance option.

To help encourage a particularly engaging conference program and in recognition of the effort that goes into soliciting speakers and putting together a cohesive, informative session, this year we will be offering a rebate of 50% off the conference registration fee to those who propose a session and successfully recruit presentations to fill it.

We are excited to have Thor Hansen as our Keynote speaker for this year's conference! He will be engaging us on The Biology of Climate Change. For more details about Thor or his plenary talk, click here.

Call for Judges for Student Poster Presentation Awards

For the 2023 NENHC, there will again be awards for student poster presentations in two categories: Graduate Student presentations and Undergraduate/High School presentations. We are looking for volunteer judges to decide recipients for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards, with cash prizes of $300, $200, and $100, respectively, in each category.

Volunteer judges will be invited to a complimentary Saturday dinner. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Carmen Greenwood, and let her know which day(s) you are willing to volunteer as a judge.
