Conference Field Trips

As this year's conference will be a virtual, online event, we won't be having traditional field trips, but are hoping to include online virtual field "trips" as part of the program. Field trips are conference events, and as such, participation in them will be limited to those registered for the conference.

Virtual Field Trip 1: Ohio’s Poland Municipal Forest Wildflowers: Spring Ephemerals

Field Leader: Kyle Filicky, Botanist and Ecologist with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.

Description: This virtual nature walk showcases 33 native spring ephemerals found in Ohio and throughout the northeastern United States. The video teaches you how to identify each species using their individual characteristics and showcases the habitats each species occupies.

Virtual Field Trip 2: Ohio Prairie Prowl

Field Leader: Kyle Filicky, Botanist and Ecologist with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.

Description: This virtual nature walk showcases 11 native prairie pollinators found throughout the state of Ohio. This prairie prowl teaches you how to identify each species using their individual characteristics while showcasing pristine prairies, including one that assisted with the success of the world’s first practical airplane.

Virtual Field Trip 3: Benthic Macroinvertebrate Identification

Field Leader: Sara Keddie, Project Scientists with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.

Description: Join aquatic biologists Sara Keddie, Jeni Spang, and Marisa Logan, FP-C , of Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) as they share insights on how to identify aquatic macroinvertebrate orders and classes!
