Announcing the 2021 Northeast Natural History Conference

to be held virtually in conjuntion with the

Wilson Ornithological Society's Annual Meeting and the

Association of Field Ornithologists' Annual Meeting

While it was a big disappointment to have to cancel the 2020 conference due to the rapidly developing COVID-19 concerns late last winter, offering the 2021 Northeast Natural History Conference in tandem with the Annual Meetings of both the Association of Field Ornithologists and the Wilson Ornithological Society promises to make next April's program even more inspirational, with an additional day of poster and oral presentations, and a special emphasis on avian-related research... it will be a truly grand affair!

You won't want to miss the Northeast's largest regional forum for researchers, natural resource managers, students, and naturalists to present current information on the varied aspects of applied field biology (freshwater, marine, and terrestrial) and natural history for the Northeastern United States and adjacent Canada. It will serve as a premier venue to identify research and management needs, foster friendships and collegial relationships, and encourage a greater region-wide interest in natural history by bringing people with diverse backgrounds together.

Given the continued uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and the likelihood that state guidelines will still be in place next spring that would make a gathering of our size very difficult, if not impossible, as well as the realization that a significant segment of our potential attendees might be very concerned about committing to participating in person at that time, we have decided to transition to holding the 2021 conference online as a virtual event, with the hope of returning to Albany for an in-person 2022 conference.

Making this decision somewhat early on will give us sufficient time to make sure that the virtual format, while not the same as an in-person event, will be an easily accessible, engaging, and valuable experience you won't want to miss.

We are already getting ready for next year's conference, which will be held as an online virtual event April 15–18, 2021. So save the dates and contact us if you wish to be added to our email list for updates or would like to be involved in conference planning.
